Our autumn term training programmes can be found in the TRAINING section of our website. There are a number of new courses in all three programmes: Leadership and Development of Children’s Centres, The Early Years Foundation Stage (3-5) and Transition to Key Stage One and can be viewed onscreen or downloaded as a pdf from the TRAINING section. Early Years Conference - Looking Closely at Assessment for Learning

Summer 2009 Conference - A Date for the Diary

Our sixth annual Early Years Foundation Stage (3-5) conference, ‘Looking Closely at Children’s Thinking’ will be held on Tuesday 16th June and repeated on Wednesday 17th June 2009. More information will be available later in the year.

Resource Centre Developments

The Spring term once again exceeded our expectations with record numbers of people visiting the centre and enjoying the quality range of resources now available in our resource centre. This term, as a result of our successful visit to the International Toy Fair in Germany and the Spring Fair in Birmingham, we continue our developments by introducing:


		a wider range of resources to support investigative play with water in the outdoors;
		additional resources for treasure baskets and to support heuristic play collections;
		a new range of finger puppets reflecting adults and children from different cultures;
		an extended range of resources to support sand and water play with children from 18 months to 3yrs.

As usual, we will also be introducing new displays, resources, books and images to support planning around seasonal and predictable interests.

Early Excellence by Post

We continue to offer a range of resources available by mail order. These include;


		a wide range of wooden resources to support the development of heuristic play;
		a treasure basket of mixed resources and additional collections to bring new stimulus;
		four collections of resources to support discovery play with under threes;
		four sets of five Poetry and Rhyme bags;
		three sets of five Number bags.

The full range of resources currently available by mail order can be viewed in the RESOURCES BY POST section of the website where order forms can be downloaded as a pdf. New resources will be updated as soon as they become available.

Summer Closure

Our centre will be closed for just over three weeks during the summer holiday to enable us to decorate and complete repairs to the building. The closure period starts on Thursday 24th July and the centre re-opens on Monday 18th August.

Our Book

We continue to promote our first book, ‘Looking Closely at Learning and Teaching’, which has received excellent evaluations. If you would like to read some of the reviews, please click onto the VIEWS section of our website.
